ted stevens' defense was utterly implausible: i got hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of free stuff, but i didn't know i was getting it. now, say you were giving a politician hundreds of $k. there is no point in that at al if he doesn't know he's getting it (as if this were something you could miss anyway).

Well...he was like 82 or so. Does he have a sharp grandson or aide de camp who is now suspuiciously living high on the hog? :)
