I'm not sure it's inconsistency, maybe just a way of demonstrating emotion and development that we're not used to with American films.
Also, a great excuse for scantily clad ladies/wet saris/pelvic thrusts

Could this mashup stuff suggest a different approach to fictional narratives in general? It's as if there is no need for internal consistency- it's very strange, and now I want to see more, figure it out, maybe make an American one to see what it looks like.
