it's pretty amazing that all the parties around north korea - china, japan, the u.s., even south korea - are concerned above all the "stabilize" the regime. they explicitly are trying to keep the north korean state from disintegrating. i heard an expert saying that as the south koreans deal with the ship sinking, they're concerned above all not to let it destabilize the gov of kim jong il. now of course you've got a military - albeit pretty broke and incompetent - with nukes and huge standing army. but for everybody's sake - in particular the sake of the north korean people - surely we all want the regime to disintegrate?? even at some cost. the state system pulls together as a world: the u.n. basically makes revolution illegal. so you sit there in the department of state thinking: how we can preserve this murdering idiot, keep people starving and in ignorance, and so on? hell it beats instability.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A 16-year-old boy who police said made an announcement at Walmart ordering all black people in a southern New Jersey store to leave was charged with harassment and bias intimidation, authorities said Saturday.

The boy, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, grabbed one of the courtesy phones at Walmart's Washington Township store Sunday evening and calmly announced: "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now," police said...

"This was an extremely disturbing event on many levels," Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton said at a news conference. "Any statements like these that can cause harm or grave concern must be addressed as quickly we possibly can."

really we seem massively confused these days between yapping and killing, pranks and extremely disturbing, gravely concerning events. obviously, they'd like to send the kid to the electric chair or a re-education camp. but if the idea is that the act was criminal because it "harmed" people then i want to know, really, who and how.

Hi, y'all. Crusader AXE here, occasional guest blogger from the Defeatists. I personally have no dog in this hunt, but find it something that Crispin would probably find enragingly amusing. The idea of not swearing in bars is intriguing -- in a lot of places you can't smoke in bars, so not swearing in bars sort of fits in with the puritanical-Mormon-Nanny-State ethos that the country is evolving toward. Next, they will turn off the big screen TVs because sports TV encourages yelling, cheering and betting in bars. Then they will forbid talking to strangers. The sole reason for going to bars will be to drink. Which will then be forbidden by the FDA because alcohol is addictive and a food. (C6-H12-O6). Commerce will be paralyzed and human life will become extinct, although ....Life is already not worth living...
