there are many good arguments against the human species. but the very best is that we mourn our torturers. i've written about this from time to time.

ok so now i'm putting the "worst song ever" stuff in its own category, inspired by the horrendous roberta flack classic

killing me softly...with his song.

already some extremely plausible candidates are emerging, though i dug "convoy"!

apropos of my amazing selection of house at pooh corner as the most harmful book of the 20th century, my best-friend-from-junior-high-school william o'brien points out that the loggins and messina song of that title is truly a horror. truly. so i've been thinking: what are the worst ten songs of all time? requirements: they have to have been hits. they have to really really suck. "house at pooh corner" is a plausible initial #1. today as i was getting my teeth drilled they were playing r.e.o. speedwagon doing "can't fight this feeling": it was perfect storm of pain. anyway i'm listening to - or at least for - candidates.
