i think david brooks does about as good a job as one could of defending the inaugural address while still manifesting some contact with reality. if the admin and those that follow this interpret the ideal of freedom as something to strive for, something with regard to which to achieve ever-increasing consistency, then right on. however, what reason is there to believe that that  could possibly happen?
