ok so i'm at the gym watching fox news. they're talking about how "the media" reports only the bad news from iraq. they are upbeat about the election, and even have a piece about how there was a wonderful election in el salvador during a civil war in 1989 (heehee). so then they go to their reporter who was in the middle of a firefight near mosul. the conversation went something like this: so, mike, how many casualties among iraqi forces? well sue, two. one broke his leg as he fled. the other shot himself in the foot. mike, on the video tape you showed us, we see soldiers firing. what was their target? well, sue, it's not perfectly clear. you see, iraqi forces aren't trained, aren't as well trained as americans. they tend to just spray the whole area indiscriminately with automatic weapons fire. it's not clear whether they were shooting at the insurgents - or i should say terrorists - or whether they were shooting at each other.
