like i said, i don't really have strong feelings about the filibuster. but i admire what these people did to reach a compromise. john mccain is easily the most admirable major politician in america: even when i utterly disagree with him i know he's saying what he actually believes. anyway, a lot of people wanted a war, and it may well come to that. meanwhile there seems to be some hope that not everyone is a toe-the-line ideologue. i think it probably especially took guts from the republicans cause they certainly stepped on bush's toes and there may well be a price.
