some quick observations on howard dean . he called the republicans "pretty much a white, christian party." nancy pelosi said "i don't agree with the remarks made by chairman dean." perhaps she wishes he hadn't said it, but that's not the same as disagreeing with it, and as a matter of fact over 80% of republicans are white christians. and it's a point very much worth making, and then discussing in depth, actually. ken mehlman, the republican chair, said "we gotta get ourselves beyond this point where when we disagree about politics, we call the other guy names." so i guess to call someone a white christian is to verbally abuse them. true, true, but you'd think the republican party chair would have more tact. i suppose we should now expect a rash of angry denials: "howdare you imply that i am a white christian?": george, dick, rush, frist, etc etc.
