here's the program from toward the end of the communist manifesto :
Nevertheless, in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable.
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.
8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
ok, then. let's start with this. once you centralize the means of production, education , communication, transportation; once you manufacture industrial armies and wipe out the very idea of the rural; once you assign an exclusive monopoly on banking and credit to the state, etc: watcha got? true democracy? or, let's see: forced collectivization of agriculture; rapid industrial growth in a command economy; idiotic propaganda rather than a press; a one-party dictatorship. and once you've got that job done, you're a fool if you don't expect executions of "class enemies" (i.e. anyone who dissents from the lobotomized marxist ideology you're spouting); and all the other wonderful hallmarks of the most thorough totalitarianism the world has ever known. that is what marx wanted. that is what he predicted. deep, deep inside - and for that matter right on the surface - that's who he was.
