headline from the guardian: the public must help restore society. see that is what happens when you start conflating actual persons into abstractions of collective consciousness. perhaps, looking at it the other way round, society must help restore the public. or perhaps they are the same thing, or opposites, or not at all. the public has been a terrible drag on society. or not, or the other way round. power to the people, man. but what is society doing to help the masses?
really what i'd like to see is a civil war between the public and society, or maybe they could join forces to square off against the body politic. only problem is, there'd be nobody there.
