i begin to think of the index as a literary genre in itself; i like the alphabetical as opposed to narrative ordering; it's less arbitrary. anyway maybe you can access the index i just wrote for political aesthetics on googledocs? or probably it's more like a craft object, like a work of stonemasonry.
