just one more time: people like ben bernanke and bill clinton have no place as writers on an op-ed page. the first thing i'd ask fred hiatt or david shipley: are you satisfied that the person whose name is on the article actually wrote it? and second, if you want their point of view covered, then go send a reporter to interview them. and third, don't these authorities have a big enough foghorn already? if they want to get their point of view out there, do they have any difficulty? aren't their points of view already represented more than adequately in the pages of your very own newspaper? maybe you should be more - much more -worried about points of view that are not the points of view of the existing authorities. remember when some newspapers actually conceived that as part of their task?
