when people interview ron paul, the thrust of the questions is basically: you're a fucking nut, aren't you? how can you take these incomprehensible extremist positions? and then he just enacts his palpable sanity before you with a mild demeanor, compelling and interesting actual points and arguments etc. there hardly could be a better spokesman for his kind of position. if he had any charisma, that would be treated as an aspect of his dangerous craziness. but looking squarely at this person and believing he's crazy is just impossible. in this interview he went on to give an unqualified, completely compelling defense of wikileaks' right to publish and the importance of the documents (unfortunately that's not in this bit). in response to the claim that people have died or will die as a result of the leaks, he scoffed, then pointed out that many, many more people have died because of government secrecy: he adduced iraq. etc.
