one of the many things i love about this phase is that both campaigns are extremely, unbelievably, consistently confident: they're both winning all the swing states. the whole idea that you have to manifest extreme confidence even though - again - this means that no one believes that your believe what you're saying, is just one of a thousand bizarre useless pretenses involved in 'strategic communication': i.e. words that have nothing to do with anything other than manipulating people. but if i was a romney or an obama voter, and i was listening to my own campaign, i might not bother to vote considering they're both turning out millions and dominating anyway. they definitely don't need you, even on their own account. on the other hand, who could possibly be listening to their own campaign? anyway, isn't that what everyone's looking for in a leader: total irrational confidence that greets every situation with just the same words?! i'm looking for someone who's like hitler in his bunker: still confident that he's winning even as he puts a bullet in his head. really, it's hard to tell the psychotics from the graduates of the best communications programs these days.
