i don't know that the cruzians are going to accomplish anything practical, and i would not have recommended this approach. but they have accomplished something impractical: they show the irrationality and resentment at the heart of the mainstream american left. the reaction is just endless non-stop ad hominem: crazy hostage-takers, etc. but the insults are incredibly mechanical and unanimous: just everyone spitting the same words in unison. y'all need a writer. also it shows what american liberalism amounts to: just government. so shutting it down, after you thought the state-ridden future was assured, makes you mental.
on the other hand, i'd be pissy were i obama: these people cannot really be worked with: they've been intent on establishing just that. i agree with him that he's tried many times to negotiate without getting anything from it except embarrassment.
