nothing is emptier or of less value than, let's say, mainstream american 'progressivism'. here's arianna huffington, celebrating a decade of hypocrisy with lloyd blankfein. arianna's stance is hillary's, explicitly. so say you are a progressive because you're supposedly, or verbally, concerned with things like income inequality, racial injustice, and so on. and then, election after election, all you want to do is vote for goldman sachs, although sometimes you make a detour to citigroup. say you vote for people or listen to people who just hire treasury secretaries straight from the citigroup board room, over and over. say you vote for someone who raises billions of dollars for her campaign from wall street, or is rocking davos on behalf of the poor, or rather, herself. say you want to put your children's education, and mine, and the kids' of west baltimore's, in the hands of the the richest man in america. say that in your quest to uplift the underprivileged, you vote for the very most privileged people in the world. in what way, except that you mechanically utter certain sentences that you don't actually believe, are you on the left? you're probably supposedly verbally worried about capitalism. i don't think you have beliefs, even though it sort of sounds like that at the dinner party. i think you have social affiliations.
in particular, i don't think you actually believe what you're saying when you passionately express your commitment to human equality. i think your commitment is to maximum human inequality, and that's obvious. or maybe, like a clinton, you don't believe anything at all. i think you're just sipping chardonnay and talking jive in unison. i'm ready for a female president. really i am, and i could be tempted to vote for elizabeth warren, say, despite extreme disagreements on policy etc. but i think that to be the first female anything, you would have to be something, or that nothingness does not have a gender. i can't make you believe something rather than nothing, but i do request that you stop talking as though you have political commitments. anyway, please don't come to me after an interminable hillary term and wonder why inequality keeps getting worse, ok white girl? because i am just going to stare blankly into your eyes.
